INOAC Automotive in Springfield, KY will be acquiring an additional manufacturing process (consoles for Ford F-150 trucks) at its facility in Springfield. As a result, 20 employees who have been on layoff will be recalled by the company while also retaining 184 jobs for Kentuckians. The 20 recalled employees will require extensive training since they will be performing a different job than the one they left. Bluegrass State Skills Corporation (BSSC) is Kentucky's state-funded, industry specific training program.
The purpose of the BSSC is to improve and promote employment opportunities for residents of the Commonwealth. INOAC has the opportunity to decide the specific approach to skills training with assistance from BSSC personnel; therefore, the specific mix of training activities is flexible. Up to $46,000 in BSSC funding has been recommended by the Cabinet for Economic Development. This amount is based on 204 Kentucky residents in regular full-time positions. The training end date for the project is December 31, 2009.
